Who to contact

A question about your data, a request to see it or have it erased: contact@flowlens.blue

Audience measurement

We count visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics. It sets no cookie and writes nothing to your browser. On each page view it sends Cloudflare the page address, the page you came from, your browser name and version, and loading times. Cloudflare works out your country from your IP address.

All we see are totals (page views, countries, referring sites), and no visitor can be identified in them. Cloudflare keeps this data for six months. Our legal basis is a legitimate interest in knowing which pages get read.

The site's server also counts every page it sends. It records the page address, the country of the connection, the site you came from, any campaign parameters (utm) in the link, whether the device is a phone or a computer, and whether the visitor is a search engine crawler. Once the page is displayed, the site's script sends it a few signals that never leave the site: the page load, how long the page stays visible, the sections that come on screen, and clicks toward the form or the contact address. When you send the form, the server notes that a message went out and its topic, never its content. Cloudflare keeps these records for three months, and each week we draw a summary of the figures for our team only.

To count visitors without a cookie, the server works out an identifier from your IP address and browser, mixed with a secret key and the date. The identifier changes every day. Your address is never recorded, and the identifier cannot be turned back into it.

Contact form

The form sends us your name, organisation, work email, the topic you picked and your message, plus your country if you fill it in. We use it to reply to you. We do not sell it and we do not add you to any mailing list.

The message reaches the contact@flowlens.blue mailbox, hosted by Google Workspace, after passing through Cloudflare, which hosts the site. We keep it for one year after it arrives, then delete it.

To stop bulk sending, the site accepts at most five messages a minute from the same IP address. That counter clears after a minute, and we do not keep your IP address.

Language cookie

There is a single cookie, fl_lang, holding the language of the last page you read (fr or en). When you come back to flowlens.blue, it takes you to that language. It lasts one year and only this site reads it. Because the site needs it to work, it does not ask for your consent.

Data processed outside the European Union

Cloudflare and Google are American companies, and part of this processing happens outside the European Union. Both are certified under the Data Privacy Framework, the transfer scheme the European Commission recognises between the Union and the United States.

Your rights

You can see, correct or have erased the data about you, object to its processing or restrict how it is used. A request to the address above is enough, and we answer within one month.

One exception: audience records hold neither your name nor your IP address, and their identifier changes every day. We therefore cannot find the ones about you to show or erase them. They disappear on their own after three months (six at Cloudflare Web Analytics).

If you are not satisfied with the answer, you can complain to the data protection authority in your country (in France, the CNIL).
